Equipment
- 1 Small Sauce Pot
- 1 Small Jar for Storing
- 1 Small Strainer
- 1 Large Mixing Bowl
Ingredients
- 1 lb Package of Fresh Strawberries
- ½ Cup Granulated Sugar
- ¼ Cup Dark Brown Sugar
- 1 tbsp. Lime or Lemon Juice
Instructions
- To start this recipe, we need to prep our strawberries. Rise your strawberries and remove the green stems.
- Cut your strawberries in halves, then small cubes.
- In your sauce pot add your strawberries, sugar, brown sugar, and juice. Turn your heat over medium. Stir your ingredients. You want your strawberries to be covered with the sugar mix.
- Keep an eye on your mixture. Slowly your strawberries will start to produce juice and will start bubbling. Stay continues with your string.
- Once your strawberries are starting to get mushy, its time to mash. Using either a fork or potato masher, start mashing your ingredients.
- After you reach a almost completely mashed texture, pour your mixture in your strainer over your mixing bowl. Using a spatula or your fork start pushing through your strainer. You want to get as mush juice out as your can, without the seeds.
- When you reach to the point of fully juice, place your mixture back into your pot. Place back onto the stove.
- After about an hour of cooking, turn the heat to a low-medium. Let continue to cook while stirring every so often.
- Your mixture will start to thicken over the time of cooking. Once your jam gets to a point of thickness where it will stick to your spatula, turn off the heat.
- Transfer your jam to your glass container and let rest for 10 minutes, before placing in the refrigerator. Let jam sit overnight, for best consistence.
- Eat with toast, biscuits, in yogurt, or thespicylime.com/shortbread-cookies-with-jam. Which you can find a recipe for on my blog atEnjoy!!
